The city and the village
An insight into the making and acceptance of some products also reveals some connections between the rural and the urban environment. For example, pottery products that were made on foot powered and hand powered potter’s wheels for clay modelling were in demand also at the market place in Karlovac, and their manufacturing survived the longest in Petrovina near Jastrebarsko.
On the other hand, even though the manufacturing of sweets and candles was taking place in the city area, as an old gingerbread and candle making craft, and later on as an industry, it was nevertheless always firmly incorporated into the traditional sense of beauty and folk piety.
