Extinguish and rescue

Although we read about the beginnings of fire-fighting in Karlovac in the fire-fighters’ rulebook adopted by the military authorities as early as 1585, a forerunner of the contemporary fire-fighting service is the Voluntary Fire-fighters’ Society founded in 1871, as a response to the conclusions of the city assembly and with the support of the mayor of that time, dr. Ivan Šimunić.
