Bicycling

Bicycling boasts a great tradition in Karlovac which gathered this sport’s fans in the bicycling society called Napred (Ahead). Under the circumstances, the history of bicycling in Karlovac coincides with the history of our museum. Moreover, the first bicycle which cycled along the streets of Karlovac was donated to our museum as early as 1911; Hugo Lukšić responded to the request of the Museum Committee of that time which was collecting exhibits for the museum, and donated a wooden bicycle - a velocipede, the so called ‘’bone shaker’’ which his father in turn, the trader Petar Lukšić had bought in Paris during his visit to the 1867 World Exposition.
