Janko Drašković on Croatia between the east and the west
The first political pamphlet in the Croatian language was printed in Karlovac in 1832. Its author, the 62-year-old count Janko Drašković, was a politician and one of the pioneers of the Illyrian movement; in Karlovac he owned a palace in Radićeva Street and a castle and an estate in the Village of Rečica.
Drašković’s Dissertation or Treatise, given to the honourable deputies is actually the first comprehensive national programme in Croatian political history. Among the main ideas of the document is the one regarding the unification of the Croatian historical lands.
