Mijo Krešić about Vjekoslav Karas

The wholesaler and cultural worker Mijo Krešić was born in Karlovac in 1818 and died in Zagreb in 1888. His house was located at the beginning of Radićeva Street; it was built in 1845 and in the following five years became the meeting and gathering place of the Illyrian Reading Society, the predecessor of the Karlovac Library. In Zagreb, where he lived from 1852 onwards, he was involved in writing and publishing; in his Autobiography he remembers the painter Vjekoslav Karas with whom he went to school around the year 1833.
