The Fortress, rampart rifle
This rampart rifle dating from the first half of the 18th century, 180 cm long and 26,5 in calibre originates from the fortress of Karlovac, and today in the collection of the Croatian History Museum in Zagreb.
In many of the arms lists recording of the arms sent to Varaždin from Graz towards the end of the 16th and in the 17th centuries, as well as in the inventory lists of the armoury of Varaždin, then according to the lists of arms sent from Graz or Varaždin to other of Vojna krajina’s fortresses – Koprivnica, Đurđevac, Križevci, Ivanić, Petrinja and Karlovac, these very heavy rampart rifles are mentioned under the name Doppelhacken (double Harquebus).
