From The Caves

One of the characteristics of this borderline area is also the long-term use of caves; caves provided refuge but they also suggest a certain spiritual life which remains largely unknown to us.

It is interesting to mention that the first proof of Christianity (here), a ring with Christ’s monogram dating from the 3rd century originated in the Vrlovka Cave, where a small cult vessel was found - the so called zvrčka. An atypical Roman cemetery was discovered in the so called Bubijeva Jama (Bubi Cave) near Barilović, and keys like the ones in the show-case in front of you were often among the objects left with the deceased.
