The Stone Age
The oldest man-made object in our museum is an ornate bone from the Lukinić cave in the municipality of Pokupsko, probably a type of a clasp. It was found in a layer abundant in fossilized animal remains, most probably the prey of a Palaeolithic hunter, and it dates back to approximately 20.000 years BC.
Findings from several more caves give an insight into the making of various tools out of bones and stone, outlining the mid- and early Stone Age period; the jewellery made of tiny snail shells dating from the mid Stone Age is also worth mentioning.
