Two planetarily significant names

We should also point out that the scientific description of the planet Earth is impossible without mentioning the two scientists related to 20th-century-Karlovac. In fact, some geological and physical phenomena were named after them. One of them is Andrija Mohorovičić, a seismologist from Zagreb; while studying the data related to the earthquake in Karlovac’s Pokuplje in 1909, he realized there was discontinuity in the internal structure of the planet Earth, that is the one between the crust and the mantle, which was later called Mohorovičić Discontinuity or simply ‘Moho’.
